Bahla Fort
Bahla Fort is located in the Wilayat of Bahla in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. It is built on a high rocky hill. It is an important strategic location overlooking the walled oasis of palm trees. Bahla Fortis one of the largest Fort in the Sultanate of Oman, built of brick as an essential component of its construction. It is also considered the most important architectural element, as it is the first cultural heritage site in Oman that was included on the World Heritage List in 1987 AD.
The mountain house
The Mountain House extends along the southern corner, and its construction dates back to the last decade of the eighteenth century AD.
This part was given this name due to the rocky base on which it was built. One of the most prominent architectural elements of this part is the “Wind Tower” located at the southern end of it.

A historical overview of the Fort
Historians believe that the construction of the citadel, called (the Kasbah), occurred before the era of the emergence of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula, based on documents, historical journals, and archaeological evidence. As for the rest of the building parts of the citadel, they were built during subsequent eras.
